WVLA NBC33 News in Baton Rouge, La. Is seeking an experienced Video Journalist. Successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced , multi-platform environment. Candiate will be responsible for shooting, editing, writing, and voicing over stories. Stories will appear both on-line and on-air. Successful candidate should have no less than 3 years experience working at a commercial television station. THIS IS NOT AN ENTRY LEVEL JOB. Applicant must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to cover news stories, both independently and with senior reporters. Candidate should be good at enterprising lead stories daily. Must exhibit the highest standards of professionalism and ethics. A bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field is preferred. Candidate should be familiar with Panasonic P2 Cameras and Sony XD Cameras. Candidate should also be proficient in both Final Cut Pro and Edius editing programs. Previous web experience is a plus. The Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity is offering fellowships to enterprising journalists seeking the hands-on experience of a statehouse beat.
Benjamin Franklin Fellows will not be coffee-fetchers or lunch-lackeys.
Franklin Fellows will work in a variety of statehouses across the nation with seasoned correspondents to produce daily news as well investigative pieces.
The statehouse beat will challenge fellows to research complex issues, such as government spending, ethics abuse and statewide elections, and report the consequences to citizens.
Upon completing their fellowship, participants will have completed a portfolio of professional clips, internet dispatches and broadcasts.
Fellows also will have unique networking opportunities with a nationwide collection of state capital bureaus.
Fellowships begin January 1, 2011 and last for 21 weeks a $1,600 monthy stipend is provided.
To be eligible, you must be a college junior or senior, a graduate student or a recent college graduate.
Positions are available in print, broadcasting and multimedia.
Applicants should have prior journalism experience at a collegiate paper, radio station or television station. Clips or tapes demonstrating experience with government reporting, public records laws, and fiscal issues are strongly desired.
